I finished work late, got home around seven, ate dinner and got into Uncle Supp at eight. There wasn't really a plan. For a while I'd been feeling stuck in the same loop — work, home, think too much, want someone around, sleep, repeat. Work hadn't been particularly easy either. Mistakes, pressure, things sitting in my head.

So I drove. At some point once Uncle Supp and I were properly on the road, it felt like we'd passed the point where turning around made sense.

I still wasn't sure why I was going. There wasn't anything in Hua Hin I wanted to see. No restaurant saved on Google Maps. No itinerary. No attraction I needed to visit.

And somewhere on the way I remembered something slightly ridiculous: it was my 26th birthday.

I arrived at the hotel about three hours later, checked in, showered, and lay on the bed thinking: what the fuck am I doing here? Do people actually drive three hours after work just to pay for a hotel room and sleep alone?
Part of me still wished somebody was there. Someone to lie beside after a shitty week.
I love driving. I'm not sure I love travelling in the normal sense.
Maybe driving three hours through traffic, sleeping somewhere else, and driving home is enough.

The next morning my lens fogged up as soon as I went outside. I kept the photo anyway — it looked roughly how waking up felt. There wasn't anything else I particularly needed to do in Hua Hin, so Uncle Supp and I headed home.

Although saying we went straight home would be a lie. We stopped for fuel — petrol for him, coffee for me.
And that was Trip 000.
